The Student National Symposium IR 4.0 provides a platform
for the student community to present their research papers. The symposium intends to address
various topics of fourth industrial revolution. The interested candidates can submit their
research papers as per the submission guidelines.
The selected papers after suitable revisions will be published through the proposed journal
of Higher College of Technology. More details about the publication will be informed to the
authors of the accepted papers later. When you have decided to write a research paper and ready

The symposium will feature original research and the papers on the theory,
design and implementation of technologies, as well as demonstrations, tutorials and workshops.
Paper Submission Guidelines
Authors can start writing the paper and submit the Full Paper on 15 May 2019 30 May 2019 by email to technical.symposium@hct.edu.om.
Authors should submit a paper in English, carefully checked for correct grammar and spelling,
addressing one or several of the symposium topics.
Papers must be formatted as per the template and submitted as DOC files. Papers are limited to 10 pages
including tables, figures, appendices, references etc.
All submissions must be blind. Authors should not specify their names and affiliations in the paper.
The manuscript (paper) should be jointly approved by all authors involved in the work and implicitly or explicitly
by the responsible authorities where the work was carried out.
Only original papers should be submitted. Papers that contain any form of plagiarism will
be rejected without reviews. (see plagiarism policy)
Submission of an article implies that the work described has not been published previously or that it is not under
consideration for publication elsewhere.
All papers must be submitted through our submission system and should be prepared as per the template.
After the submission deadline, the authors are not allowed to make changes in the paper title,
abstract, authorship and actual paper.
If your paper is accepted, it should not be published elsewhere in the same form, in English or in any other language,
including electronically without the written consent of the copyright holder.
At least one author of each accepted paper is required to attend the symposium to present the work.
The final paper must be submitted on or before 15 May 201930 May 2019 through the Easy Chair Paper Submission System in order to be
included in the symposium presentation and proceedings.

Virtual Presentation
If you are unable to attend the Student National Symposium in our venue directly, the authors of the accepted papers can submit
a power-point presentation (with audio and/or video) OR Video Presentation (MP4 Format only) of their research by email to technical.symposium@hct.edu.om in
addition to the camera ready paper and the copyright form. The total duration of the video presentation is limited to 10 minutes.

Significance and novelty of the research to the theme of the symposium
Quality of the research and the results presented
Contribution of the research to the development of the nation
Quality of design and the use of appropriate methodologies
Clarity of writing and presentation
Plagiarism Guidelines
Researchers must submit their original manuscript (paper) provided that the
said manuscript has not been published previously
Use proper citations and acknowledgements to the work of others in respect of
the principle of intellectual property
All submitted manuscripts will be checked for plagiarism using Turnitin software
The allowed percentage of plagiarism should be less than or equal to 25%.
Plagiarism less than 10 % is recommended for summary/ abstract/ discussion and less than 5% for the Results.
Researchers must ensure to avoid plagiarism in all its forms which includes, but not limited to the following:
Copying full or part (paragraphs, sentences or significant part of a sentence) of other’s work directly
Copying from other’s work with an end reference to the original source but
without putting the copied text between quotation marks
Paraphrasing, summarizing or rearranging words, phrases or ideas of other’s work
Copy-Paste of statements from multiple sources (electronic or print material)
Presenting a work, done in collaboration with others, as independent work
